T.S.S. 'Lake Michigan'

Gus signs on TSS Lake Michigan on 10 September 1913 and makes 18 voyages. With the beginning of World War 1  troops are brought in from the different parts of the British Commonwealth

           2nd Gordons & 2nd Scots Guards on board T.S.S. Lake Michigan, 6th October 1914 en route to Zeebrugge, Belgium  (Kennethmont.co.uk)

    "The situation became  increasingly difficult for the troops at the front so that the ships crews  had to run ammunition  up the steep slopes under heavy machine gun fire"
