    an island off the coast of Sweden

 Ture ‘Gus’ Alfvegren served as a  merchant seaman from 1897 to 1936. His ship the

T.S.S. Lake Michigan hit a mine in 1916 and was later torpedoed by U-Boat 100 in the

North Atlantic in 1918.
